Adaptations
There are lots of Adatations in the Marine Biome. Some examples are:
>Other than the obvious reason of breathing underwater, gills help fish because they can sort out the salt and water, allowing the fish to drink clean water.
>Some animals use the ocean currents as a form of transportation.
>Since whales don't have gills like fish do, they are able to get clean water from what they eat.
>Most animals have thick levels of blubber to survive the cold, but sea otters have up to one million hairs per square inch. That's ten times more than what humans have on their head!
Ecological Relationships
Ecological relationships are important to the marine biome. Some examples are:
>Mutualism: An example of mutualism is a boxer crab and an anemone. The boxer crab holds the anemone in its claws an uses the stinging tentacles to fend off predators. The anemone benefits by eating particles of food that the boxer crab eats.
>Commensalism: An example of commensalism is an anemone and a clown fish. The anemone provides shelter for the clownfish, and the anemone is unaffected.
>Parasitism: An example of parasitism is isopods and angelfish. The isopod attaches to the angelfish and feeds on its skin unitl the angelfish cannot survive any longer. Than the isopods coves onto a new host.
