The marine biome is made up of three layers: The euphotic zone, the disphotic zone, and the aphotic zone. The euphotic zone is where the most life is, because that's were sunlight pierces. The disphotic zone is dark and gloomy, and doesn't harvest as much life but still contains a large number. The third zone, the aphotic zone, is home only to the plants and animals that have adapted to the extreme to life in such harsh conditions.
Fauna
Some of the fauna in marine biomes are:
Carnivores: Great White Shark, Tiger Shark, large fish such as mahi-mahi, sailfish, and marlin
Herbivores: Green Sea Turtles, Manatees, Parrotfish, and hermit crabs.
Sailfish
Sailfish are the fastest fish, reaching speeds of up to 68 miles per hour. They have a sword-like structure above their mouth. They use it to injure bait fish by whacking them. They have beautiful and different colorations on their body depending on their mood. When they are calm they are mostly blue and silver. The attribute that make them faster than other fish are their fins. They are tall and can glide through the water easily. They are located in the warmer oceans. They usually stay in the middle of the ocean unless they are in a feeding frenzy, which means they are chasing an animal in a pack.
Plants
There are many plants found in the marine biome, many of which are very beautiful and majestic to look at while others are sharp. The list below says some of the many aquatic plants in the marine biome:
*Dead Man's Fingers
*Green Feather
*Halimeda
*Leafy Flat-Blade
*Papyrus Print
*Penicillus
*Rophodyta
*Mermaid's Wine-glass
Mermaid's Wine Glass: This plant is a beautiful and majestic plant, which in a way looks a little like a wineglass. It is 5 cm high and 1 cm in diameter. It is unlike other algae, for this winegalss is beautiful. Each stem is actually one huge cell. The winegalss tends to grow on small rocks or bits of shells. They also attach to coral reefs. They tend to be found in the Carribean and southern Florida. A lot of people purposely search for these plants because they are rare and endangered. Also, they are just beautiful to look at.
Question:
How does salinity effect wildlife?
Answer:
Salinity has a large effect on wildlife. Some animals can't handle too much salinity, while others can't live without it. When an animal is looking for a place to settle, they choose the place with the right amount of salinity. If an animal is in the wrong level of salinity, its reproduction can be deformed, making them produce mutated offspring.
